Singapore River Safari

Singapore River Safari, is a river-themed zoo located at Mandai Area in  Singapore. A first of its kind in Asia, it covers 12 hectares of area, adjacent to Singapore Zoo and the Night Safari, it focuses on freshwater attraction with river boat rides as its main highlights. The park will be home to over 150 plant species and 5,000 animal specimens, representing 300 animal species.

River Safari aims to highlight the importance of freshwater ecosystems and inspire positive actions for conserving them. Visitors can expect to discover the exotic wildlife found in eight iconic river habitats — including the Mississippi, Nile, Mekong, Yangtze and Amazon rivers. The Giant Panda Forest was first opened to public 3 April 2013 to specialy invited visitors. A major draw to tourist is sight of  giant pandas via River Safari. All 4 zoos, namely Singapore Zoo, Night Safari, Jurong Bird Park and River Safari are managed by the Wildlife Reserves Singapore.

River Safari’s freshwater galleries and immersive exhibits showcase the world’s largest freshwater aquarium at the Amazon Flooded Forest and the Giant Panda Forest. Unique aquatic and terrestrial animals featured in the park iincludes the endangered river giants such as the Giant Salamander, Giant Freshwater Stingray and Mekong Giant Catfish. River Safari is also the first park in Asia to feature the endangered giant river otter, which – measuring 1.8 metres from nose to tail tip – is the world’s largest otter.

As it is remotely located in Northern Singapore, we recommend pre-booking (here) of private transfer on return to hotel or city area. Taxi queue can be rather long.
